Hollywood, Florida - nightmare on the Beach.
"Come to Hollywood, Florida, if you want to commit a crime".
I remember when Johnny Carson once said, "Come to Fairmont, West Virginia if you want to get away with murder."
Tonight, like many nights, my husband and I sat in our house and listened to guns being fired in Young Circle, Hollywood, Florida. Tonight, however, found the 6 rounds of gunshots going off directly outside of our windows. Several bullet casings and one small bag of pot were found in the alley all around our house.
The trouble began over 4 years ago, when we actually moved into this "soon-to-be historic district" of Hollywood. Anything and everything we have ever put outside for even one mere moment .... whether it be in our yard, our own back porch ... has been stolen. Even our hard work to plant flowers in the front yard saw the plants individually dug up and removed from our property.
After several police reports filed and several letters to the Mayor, nothing has been done except that the police payrolls have been diminished and their pensions have been deleted.
So this is just another tourist town boasting huge dreams to travelers that will risk their lives to visit the beautiful Ocean. I sure hope they can make it there and back in one piece.

When this was transpiring, one of the City's stooges called me regarding this post, asking me who wrote it...trying to intimidate me. I knew that it would be difficult to straighten things around in our neighborhood, and it's still a fairly nasty area. But I chose bullying the Mayor over getting a gun. I'd rather be threatened by the Mayor than by my own ill-fated attempts to defend myself with a gun. By the way, my posts have helped. The Hollywood police are, I believe, sincerely trying to bust drug and prostution rings in the area. They don't have enough funding to post Crime Watch signs in the area, but they are more sensitive to my reaching out for help.
